  In multi-unit apartment developments, there is always the question which is better, electric powered hot water or gas fired hot water heaters.  This is an example of an electric hot water heater installation. Electric hot water heater installations should be installed by a  qualified plumber and electrician.  Electric hot water tanks should be set on blocks to raise them above the floor. When using Pex water supply lines, connections to the hot water tank should be made in copper. (when using pex tubing, we prefer copper connections to all fixtures) Although many hot water installations only have a one shut off valve on the cold water side, we recommend installing a shut off valve on the hot water side as well. This makes replacing the hot water tank much easier in case of damage.
