Don't believe The Hype - Think Community

Definition: Hype - hyped up - adjective - to promote or publicize extravagantly.. put on , deceive  "Merriam Webster"

Arguably the use of stainless steel appliances, pattern laden ceramic tiles, natural stone counter tops and high rising cabinetry  can add a since of style to a newly renovated home. It is even eluded to add value.

Communities suffer from this form of Hype. Inner city communities being transformed on the basis of this hyped up since of style and value create a disproportionate level of ownership among the indigence population.

So how then do the indigence populations in these communities, hold on and maintain ownership in an increasingly hyped up value assessment that raises property tax. Property tax has become a  prevalent means by which to obtain property in inner city communities.

Until development spawns, low income communities suffer from blight and decay. The resultant factors reduce lending in the community to the indigence population, burdens the tax base which ultimately  affects schools and education.

Inner center city indigence populations, "Don't Believe the Hype" there is a viable and logical thought process to offsetting this superimposed aesthetic value and it starts with your own home. Your home achieves benefit from increased value just by virtue of where it is and there are cost effective ways to upgrade your home to keep in step with increasing values. The secret is all in design and the effective use of color..

For pennies on the dollar you can make small repairs and slight aesthetic changes to your home by adding a new color scheme, replace appliances, upgrade light fixtures and adding new windows and doors. The inward value of which will yours only but the outward value will be that of those building around you.

Making elegant yet cost effective upgrade will have a lasting effect. For more information about how you can benefit from very simple techniques.

Strengthen Your Own Community

Community investment and revitalization is the best thing we can do to stabilize our own neighborhoods and communities. Revitalization creates jobs provides opportunities for residents who otherwise don't have adequate access to goods and services. Quality self development promotes the recycling of economic dollars and growth in otherwise poor, distressed and crime filled neighborhoods.

Traditional subsidize developments only goes so far. Although it has its place, corporate development does not recycle funds back into the community and raise the economic base of the constituents. Tax credits and subsides only benefit those who live outside the community from an economic stand point. Communities would strive better with the return of the butcher, baker, seamstress, local doctor, tailor and other customary family services that have disappeared from the community over the past 2 and half decades. Corner stores sell beer at an alarming rate. Then tax credits and subsidies fund the development of alcohol treatment centers and health care facilities. Why not develop and support corner stores that sell fresh vegetables, fruit and healthy food products. Why not provide subsidies that support small business owner in the community that offer health sustaining products, goods and services.

Healthy economically priced food, clothing and shelter are the ingredients that stabilize neighborhoods. These ingredients  reduce crime, create jobs and community relationships among neighborhood inhabitants. Community economics and the reduction of crime is a direct function of the people that live in the community itself. If the quality of goods and services are weak the community will be weak. Strengthen the quality of goods and services and you strengthen the community in which they exist. Not to mention the creation of jobs.

To often the focus is on extracting dollars from the community in stead of infusing dollars into the community. Give a person a job in their community and they will buy goods and services in their community. Don't and the result is opportunistic crime within the community, or worse the creation of illegal business that breeds violence and crime. From my perspective its a simple solution, invest in and revitalize your own community and you will single handedly become a part of the economic development of our own community.
